Question:
What is RSS and how does it work in EPiServer CMS?
Answer:
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a way to make selected information on your website, available to those who want to receive it. RSS is a communication channel using a specific format to make the information available for reading with specific RSS programs.
As a visitor to websites, RSS provide you with an easy way to stay updated on latest news from many websites, without having to surf to each one of them. You simply save your RSS favorites, and each time you visit your RSS reader, these channels are updated and you can quickly access news and updatings.
EPiServer CMS does not come with a built-in ready to use RSS provider, but this can easily be developed by your EPiServer partner, often based on the RSS template included in the EPiServer installation. The template will then be adapted to suite the specific needs for the RSS feeds of your organisation.
